Getting kids to follow and create lists is a great way to teach them valuable skills in planning and organizing.

So what are some things to add to the bucket list?

  • Visit the library

  • Go swimming

  • Ride a bike

  • Go on a nature walk

  • Plant a seed

  • Plant a vegetable or flower garden

  • Draw a picture of something outside

  • Play a game outside

  • Play a board game

  • Make a card for someone

  • Write a short story with someone

  • Spend an entire day off of electronics

  • Have a yard sale

  • Paint rocks and make a rock garden or place them around your neighborhood for others to find

  • Read a longer chapter book aloud together with other family members

  • Make a musical instrument out of recycled materials in the house

  • See who is the fastest at finding 10 items you no longer need to donate

  • Have a picnic

  • Plan a scavenger hunt

  • Write a poem

  • Start a journal

  • Visit your local fire station

  • Visit and/or help an elderly person in your community

These are just a few ideas, but there are so many more ideas that kids could do for the summer!

I would encourage the kids to volunteer to pick up trash in the neighborhood.
